Hi Karena,

Here's your April 2023 issue of the GO BE GREAT MONTHLY NEWSLETTER!

Let's Talk About Stress...

April is Stress Awareness Month.   As an Entrepreneur, it's important to be aware of the signs of stress in your life both business and personal. What strategies do you use to manage stress? How can you help your clients learn how to cope with theirs?

In this month's newsletter, we'll cover three steps for managing stress:

1. Identifying Warning Signs – Learn  to recognize the signs of stress in your life.

2. Creating a Stress Management Plan – Developing an individualized plan for managing stress can help you make better decisions, stay focused, and reduce stress levels.

3. Making Time for Self-Care – Taking time each day to pause, unplug, and practice self-care is an essential part of stress management.

Let's make a commitment to helping ourselves and our community manage stress in healthy ways. Together, we can make a positive impact on the world around us.

  • Identifying Warning Signs ✅
Stress can be physical, mental, or emotional. Physical signs of stress may include increased heart rate, rapid breathing, tense muscles, and shallow breaths. Mental and emotional signs of stress may include feelings of worry, fear, overwhelm and irritability. Keeping track of your physical and psychological responses to stressors can help you identify when stress is becoming an issue.   Some not so subtle signs of stress can be  excessive drinking, eating unhealthy foods, and withdrawing from friends and family.
  • Creating a Stress Management Plan

Although everyone is different and will have different stress management needs, there are some common strategies that can be helpful. Finding activities that help you to relax and unwind such as walking or listening to music can help reduce feelings of overwhelm and anxiety.  Connecting with supportive friends, family members or even a therapist can be beneficial for both understanding your thoughts and emotions, and finding healthy ways to cope with any challenging situations.    Finally, setting realistic goals for yourself and managing your time in a way that works for you can help to reduce stress.

These are just a few of the many strategies that can be used to build and maintain a healthy stress management plan. It's important to find what works best for you, as well as be open to trying new things  and seeking help when needed. If you or someone you know is struggling with stress, don't hesitate to reach out for professional assistance.

It's important to remember that everyone experiences stress in different ways and at different levels, so it's essential to find a plan for managing your stress that works best for you. While most of us experience periods of stress from time to time, having a plan in place can help you better manage it. With the right strategies, you can learn to cope with the stress in your life and live a healthier and happier life.

  • Making Time for Self-Care

Self-care is essential for managing stress and staying healthy. Whether it's going for a walk, breathing exercises, or catching up with friends over coffee, carving out time every day to do something that makes you feel good can work wonders in reducing your levels of stress.

  • Exercise

Regular exercise helps reduce stress and boost endorphin levels, which can help make you feel more positive and energetic. Find an activity you enjoy, such as swimming or running, and try to incorporate it into your routine a few times per week for the most benefit.

  • Mindfulness

Practicing mindfulness can also help reduce stress levels. Mindfulness is about living in the moment and being aware of your feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations. This can be done through breathing exercises, praying or meditating for a few minutes each day.

  • Getting Enough Sleep

Getting enough quality sleep is vital for managing stress. Aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night and create a consistent bedtime routine that sets you up for success. Avoid using screens within an hour of bedtime, as this can negatively affect your sleep and increase stress levels.

  • Seeking Support

Finally, don't be afraid to reach out for support. Whether it's talking to a friend or family member, seeking professional help from a counsellor or therapist or joining a support group – having someone you can talk to can be an invaluable part of managing stress.

By implementing these simple strategies, you can begin to take control of your stress and create a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. Learning to recognize the warning signs of stress is an important first step in managing it effectively. Making small changes to how you manage your time and energy can go a long way towards reducing stress levels. Try scheduling regular breaks throughout the day, so that you can take some time for yourself. Additionally, consider reaching out to friends and family or seek professional help if you are feeling overwhelmed by stress.

Remember, managing stress is all about taking care of yourself and setting healthy boundaries in your life. It's okay to say no and make time for the things that matter most! With a little effort and dedication, you can create a stress-free lifestyle and achieve your goals.

According to the National Institutes Of Health:  April is recognized as National Stress Awareness Month to bring attention to the negative impact of stress. Managing stress is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. Knowing how to manage stress can improve mental and physical well-being as well as minimize exacerbation of health-related issues.   It’s critical to recognize what stress and anxiety look like, take steps to build resilience, and know where to go for help. The Mental Health American (MHA) provides some tips on how to reduce your stress by utilizing a Stress Screener. Also, take some time to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website and familiarize yourself with strategies for stress management.  Learn more about Stress Awareness Month at the National Institutes Of Health

Hi There Karena 🙋🏾‍♀️ how have you been?

Lately I've been talking a lot about self care, stress management and imposter syndrome.

These are things that I know about for a myriad of reasons.

First, because I've experienced them all first hand.

Two, because I've spoken to so many people who are dealing with them or have dealt with them.

So I wanted to touch on it just a little more  so that you can understand why it's so important to take a break from time to time and prioritize yourself.

Life is full of challenges, especially in the entrepreneurial life.

We have our own goals and ambitions that we're striving for, but sometimes these can be overshadowed by the demands of our business and loved ones.

It's easy to get overwhelmed when we're constantly trying to do more and be more for everyone else.

That's why it is so important to practice self-care and make time for ourselves.

Self-care can be as simple as taking a few moments of quiet time each day to reflect, or even a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the world around us.

No matter how you decide to practice self-care, it's important to remember that taking breaks is essential for our mental and physical health.

Regular breaks help us recharge, refresh our focus, and give us the energy needed to tackle whatever life throws our way.

Make sure to take some time out of your day or week for yourself and don't forget to practice self-care. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you for it!

By taking breaks and practicing self-care, you'll have the energy, focus, and motivation needed to stay productive in all areas of life.

Self-care is not about being selfish, it's about making sure you're in the best shape possible to take on all that life has to offer.

So don't forget to take some time for yourself and practice self-care! You'll be glad you did.

GO BE GREAT, Entrepreneurs!

Are you ready to take on the world with your business ventures and leave a mark on the world?

I know I am, and I bet you are, too.

But let's talk about something that might be holding you back: impostor syndrome.

Oh, you know what I'm talking about - I've been talking about it for the last few months now!

What exactly is imposter syndrome?  Welp, glad you asked:  it's that sneaky little voice in the back of your head that tells you you're not good enough,

don't deserve your success, and are a fraud just waiting to be exposed. It's like having a tiny devil on your shoulder,

except instead of tempting you to do bad things, it's tempting you to doubt yourself and your abilities.

And you know what?

It's totally normal to feel this way.

In fact, studies show that up to 70% of people experience impostor syndrome at some point in their lives.

Yep, even the most successful and accomplished people can feel like they don't belong or that they're not good enough.  You've heard me talk about Oprah and how she's experienced it, right?

But just because it's normal doesn't mean it's healthy or helpful.

Impostor syndrome can hold you back from taking risks, pursuing your dreams, and reaching your full potential. So, how do we combat it?

First of all, recognize that you're not alone. Share your feelings with someone you trust, whether a mentor, friend, coach, consultant, or therapist.

Talking about it can help you realize that these feelings are common and that you're not a freak of nature.

Secondly, remind yourself of your accomplishments. Make a list of all the things you've achieved, big or small, and celebrate them.

It's easy to focus on the things we haven't done or the mistakes we've made, but we need to give ourselves credit for the things we've done right.

Thirdly, embrace failure. Yep, you read that right. Failure is not the end of the world, and it doesn't mean you're a failure as a person.

Failure is a natural part of the learning process, and it's how we grow and improve. So, don't be afraid to take risks and try new things.

If you fail, dust yourself off and try again. And if you succeed, well, you deserve to pat yourself on the back.

Fourthly, stop comparing yourself to others. This is a big one, especially in the age of social media, where everyone's highlight reel is on display.

But remember, you're seeing everyone's best moments, not their struggles or their failures.

And even if someone else seems to have it all together, that doesn't diminish your own accomplishments or worth.

Lastly, fake it 'til you make it. This might sound counterintuitive, but sometimes you have to act like you belong until you actually do.

Put on your power suit, speak with confidence, and own your space.

The more you practice, the more natural it will feel, and the more you'll start to believe in yourself.

So, there you have it, folks. Impostor syndrome might be a sneaky little devil, but it doesn't have to hold you back.

Recognize it, embrace your accomplishments, embrace failure, stop comparing yourself to others, and fake it 'til you make it.

And always remember, you are an amazing entrepreneur who is capable of anything you set your mind to.
